I’ve been saying for awhile now that I will be teaching more classes. Well guess what!?! When I return in November the new CorePower Yoga Foothills Studio is finally opening and you will have plenty of opportunities to come practice with me. I am so excited to be joining the CorePower team and hope to see you all in the studio.
Some of the most frequent comments I receive when it comes to skydiving are, “I’m not good enough to jump with you. You wouldn’t want to jump with me. Maybe one day I’ll be able to fly with you… etc.” I’m not sure what some people think I’m made of, but I’m not superhuman. I didn’t come out of the womb flying the way I do. And yes, you abso-f*@%ing-lutely can jump with me, today, right now, this very moment (provided we were both geared up somewhere at a dropzone). The only thing stopping you is your attitude toward yourself.
The mind is everything. What we think we become. ~Buddha
I apologize for having been a little m.i.a. recently. Life happens, we get busy, it happens to the best of us. However, I have lots of exciting updates as a result… :)
When people find out I skydive – voluntarily, over and over again – they always want to know why. Well, here is my answer, beautifully shot by BackToAwake… Jonathan was asked to make a video for one of my sponsors, Velocity Sports Equipment, who make my skydiving rig, the Infinity. The Internet is inundated with skydiving videos, but very few communicate to the rest of the world why it is we do what we do. Our sport we love so much isn’t always portrayed in the best light as it’s usually the incidents that are featured on the news, rather than the accomplishments. If all I saw and heard about driving was all the accidents and fatalities, I probably wouldn’t drive either.
The last year has brought about a lot of changes that ultimately have lead me to this really big one… Moving to Salt Lake City. I’ve grown up for the most part in Florida and after a few years in North Carolina, found myself back in FL again last year. I’ve always known that I didn’t want to stay there, even in grade school, but somehow kept ending up there. College because of scholarships, then I started skydiving and FL had ideal year round conditions, then there was a guy, the list goes on… And the whole time in the back of my mind I knew I wanted to see and do more. Experience more of what this amazing planet has to offer.
March Madness Day 16:
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ~Howard Thurman
Since resigning from my job recently I have become more and more aware of how many people do not enjoy what they are doing. It literally sucks the life out of them, as it did me, and then you have no energy to put into what you truly enjoy and are passionate about.
March Madness Day 9:
I’m well aware that I do not live a typical “normal” life by any standards. But just like anyone else I can get stuck in ruts and routines too. So make it a point to do something for yourself and have at least a little bit of fun everyday. It doesn’t have to be anything big like a skydive, it can be as simple as giving yourself a treat (I love ice cream). Just something that makes you feel good, LOL, and leaves you with a little extra pep in your step.
Because it’s SO MUCH FUN!! Here is a sampling of photos from some of my 1200+ jumps. Enjoy!
Jon’s new extended version of his video “Why We Jump,” was recently selected for the 13th annual X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival. It is his first entry, and to be selected alongside some heavyweight productions from the likes of Red Bull is a huge accomplishment! Additional interviews were added as well as footage from the recent Vertical World Record 138-way.
So being the big Christian Bale fan that I am (and I don’t just mean as Batman. I’m talking Newsies, Swingkids, Little Women, etc.), we went and saw The Dark Knight Rises. I wasn’t expecting anything life-changing (after all it’s a DC Comics superhero action film). So you’re signing up to see lots of fancy toys and action and that is most definitely what you get.
