All that we are is the result of what we have thought…

The mind is everything. What we think we become. ~Buddha

I apologize for having been a little m.i.a. recently. Life happens, we get busy, it happens to the best of us. However, I have lots of exciting updates as a result… :)

I was born in Hawaii, then lived in Louisiana, but grew up for the most part in Florida. I have never properly experienced seasons as all of those places are rather similar climates. About 2 years ago I started thinking to myself that I needed some mountains in my life. It didn’t come from any distinct event, just an undercurrent of a feeling that resonated somewhere inside me. I voiced this to some of my friends and they just chuckled, saying I didn’t know what I was really asking for (i.e. really cold winters and lots of snow). However, I now reside in Salt Lake City, surrounded by mountains, and am absolutely loving it! And for the record, couldn’t be more excited to experience my first proper winter and play in the snow. As if that wasn’t enough, I just found out that I will be heading to Mt. Everest next month! Yes, you read that correctly, MT. EVEREST!! And circumstances permitting, I will be one of a very select few that get to literally skydive from the top of the world. I think the Universe definitely heard me… talk about the epitome of getting what you ask for!   **(P.S. This means my regularly scheduled classes will be on hold until I return. Keep checking back as I will update my schedule accordingly.)

VlksySo in addition to that incredible news, there have been some other significant changes as well. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted an original Volkswagen Beetle. When my parents were helping me look for my first car we found one that was pristine, but was already sold when we went to go look at it. Plus it isn’t the safest car for a new driver. That dream then got shelved for a bit as having a more practical car for hauling gear and lots of road trips was what my life called for. A bug would have to be a 2nd car, which was just excessive to have it sitting around not really getting used. Well guess what is parked behind our house now!?! A matte black 1966 VW Beetle named Vlksy!! The Universe had a master plan all along as I became friends with the make-up artist that we used for Jon’s film, Anna Ever After. She’s planning on moving to L.A. and can’t take Vlksy with her. So this way I have the car I’ve always wanted and she still has visitation rights. Perfecto!

BerthaThis change did mean saying bye to Bertha, my FJ Cruiser though, but we have been talking about it for awhile now. She is a very heavy rear-wheel drive vehicle and in anticipation for the upcoming snow season we felt we needed a safer option. I’m not the biggest car enthusiast, but I really like Audis for some reason. However, never really thinking anything of it other than they’re nice, as they are rather pricey. Well obviously the bug is not very snow friendly either so we still needed a “practical” car. Ideally, we would sell Bertha and swap her out for the bug and something safe and reliable without having to spend too much out of pocket. Hoping to find a decent used vehicle in the area that accommodated everything we wanted, within our leftover budget was going to be a stretch, but you gotta start somewhere right? Low and behold someone was selling their Audi A4 Avant Quattro 1.8T 6-speed. Not only is it all-wheel drive, but it’s in great condition, and he even had a set of hardly used snow tires to sweeten the deal (all well within our budget). Oh did I mention that he was literally 3 min. away from our house? It couldn’t have worked out more perfectly! Bertha was definitely a great car and I’ve had a lot of adventures with her, but I couldn’t be happier with the transition. I now have the car I’ve always wanted and one that I never really thought I would have, plus she is going to be awesome once the snow starts falling!

So the moral of the story?… Be careful what you think about and what you ask for, you just might get it! Live deliciously, and happy asking!
